Thai Massage Certification Program

Thai Massage, an ancient healing art based on Ayurvedic medicine and Yoga, is growing in popularity among Western yoga practitioners and massage therapists. This unique art form is a valuable addition to the repertoire of any massage therapist, physical therapist or natural healer.

Basic Thai Massage 40 CE Hours Certification Program

The Basic Certification Course will cover the principles of the art of traditional Thai massage, an ancient form of interactive massage, energy meridian work, and yoga therapy. This will be a professional certification course, recognized nationally by the NCBTMB. All students completing the course will be given a certificate in Basic Thai Massage and will be granted authentic membership in the prestigious Shivago lineage of Northern Thailand. Certified massage therapists will earn 40 NCBTMB Continuing Education Credit Hours for participation. With this certificate, non-CMT students will be able to practice as a “massage practitioner” in most states.

This course will be led by Sarah Cheiky, LMT, NCTMB , and will promote the understanding of Thai massage in a holistic context of body, mind and energy work. Sarah will incorporate elements of traditional Thai culture, as well as look at the Ayurvedic roots of Thai medicine in the Yogic tradition. The course will also provide information on the practical aspects of professional massage therapy, including insurance regulations, business practices and ethics.

Each course is taught in traditional format, including a short prayer and meditation meeting to begin each day. A yoga class with pranayama (breathing) exercises will be held during massage courses in order to deepen understanding of the roots of the Thai system, as well as to provide balance for the bodywork.
